Whistleblower lawsuits, also called a false claims act or qui tam lawsuits, involve complaints against the employer for fraud against the government.  Qui tam lawsuits can be brought against any organization that is engaging in practices to cheat a state or federal governmental agency. Qui tam lawsuits often involve healthcare providers who submit false claims to Medicare and Medicaid, or companies that are involved in defense contracts that defraud the government by overcharging or providing defective goods or services.
